Trailiner Achieves Real-Time Visibility and Highest Ever Safety Scores With Netradyne

Company Summary

Trailiner Corporation is a family-owned transportation company headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. With a fleet of 65 trucks and decades of experience, Trailiner prides itself on delivering outstanding service while maintaining a strong culture of safety. The team is focused on continual improvement, investing in technology that empowers both drivers and fleet managers to prevent incidents before they happen.

Challenge

Trailiner previously used a video telematics platform to support driver safety and incident management. However, the system became increasingly unreliable—video footage was frequently delayed or unavailable, and customer support was unresponsive. This limited the company’s ability to access timely evidence in the event of an incident and impacted both internal workflows and driver protection.

“We weren’t able to retrieve video in time to prevent citations or prove fault,” said Amber Edmondson, Trailiner’s CEO and President. “There were significant delays, and in some cases, the footage wasn’t there at all.”

Trailiner needed a solution that could analyze events in the vehicle in real time on the road to provide immediate, actionable insights, rather than waiting for footage to be uploaded and reviewed. The team began evaluating alternative solutions to address these limitations and improve their ability to protect and coach drivers effectively.

Solution

Trailiner evaluated other providers, including Samsara and Lytx, before selecting Netradyne’s Driver•i fleet safety and management platform. While Lytx was reviewed, only Samsara was trialed in-vehicle. Due to technical issues with Samsara’s trial performance, the team determined it was not a viable solution.

“Netradyne met our requirements during the trial,” said Edmondson. “The platform was reliable, user-friendly, and easy to implement.”

With guidance from Netradyne’s onboarding team, Trailiner’s in-house shop handled installations across its 65-truck fleet over a two-week period. The implementation process was straightforward and efficient, supported by clear documentation and direct assistance during the initial installs.

“We had a great experience getting started,” said Jackie Labby, Director of Operations. “Compared to our previous provider, the difference was immediate. The system was easy to install, intuitive to use, and the support team was helpful throughout. Our drivers really appreciate having access to the Driver•i app, it gives them ownership of their performance and makes the program feel collaborative.”

The system is now integrated into daily operations. Driver managers and trainers begin each day reviewing new video events, prioritizing severe incidents and following up with drivers as needed. Drivers also receive video alerts directly through the Driver•i app, which supports immediate awareness and self-correction.

Results

Since implementing Netradyne, Trailiner has significantly improved both driver behavior and safety operations. With real-time access to video footage, managers can now respond immediately to incidents, providing law enforcement with on-the-spot evidence and reducing the likelihood of unnecessary citations. In-cab alerts for unsafe behaviors, such as following too closely or distracted driving, have also helped drivers self-correct in the moment, minimizing the need for additional coaching. This shifted their safety program from a reactive model of reviewing past incidents to a proactive one, where drivers are empowered to self-correct in the moment. This immediate feedback loop minimizes the need for formal coaching sessions and prevents incidents before they occur.

One example involved a Trailiner driver traveling in rainy conditions. “He was in the far right lane, driving cautiously and at a reduced speed,” said Edmondson. “Another vehicle in the far left lane hydroplaned across traffic and struck him head-on. Thanks to Netradyne, we were able to send the video instantly, and the police issued a citation to the other driver. Without that footage, it would have been our word against theirs.”

Driver engagement has increased through consistent use of the Driver•i app. Drivers are motivated by Trailiner’s monthly incentive program, which is built around Netradyne’s unique performance metrics. The program rewards drivers for achieving high GreenZone Scores, a comprehensive measure of their overall driving safety, and for earning DriverStars, which recognize specific, positive defensive driving actions. Top performers receive gift cards and are acknowledged at safety meetings. According to the team, the past two months have produced the highest average GreenZone Scores yet.

Over the past 12 months, Trailiner increased their average GreenZone Score from 871 to 975, comparing the first four weeks to the last four. They outperformed similar-sized fleets with comparable tenure by 41% in average GreenZone Score. During the same period, DriverStars per 1,000 minutes driven rose by 28%, Driver Stars per Severe Alert improved by 174%, while Severe Alerts decreased by 53% and Moderate Alerts decreased by 29%, per 1,000 minutes driven.

Operationally, the platform has also helped Trailiner identify and resolve previously hidden operational and safety risks. One example: Driver·i’s roadside parking alerts revealed a previously unnoticed pattern, which the team was able to address and resolve within one week. These types of insights support a more proactive approach to risk management.

Trailiner’s safety performance continues to receive external validation. The company has earned consistent recognition from the American Trucking Associations and the State of Missouri, including awards for safe driving miles and accident-free records. Additionally, since joining a safety-focused insurance captive in 2021, Trailiner has consistently ranked among the top-performing carriers. This, according to Edmondson, is due in part to the real-time visibility and coaching enabled by Netradyne.

Next Steps

Trailiner has integrated Netradyne’s Driver·i safety solution with Idelic’s Safety Suite for comprehensive risk management and with Luma, a driver-focused learning platform, for automated training delivery. These integrations allow the safety team to follow a structured coaching process, supported by consistent data and video evidence.

The team continues to monitor platform developments and adopts new features as they become available.

“Our managers value the Netradyne system’s evolution,” said Labby. “Updates like the lane conduct and roadside parking alerts help us address issues we previously couldn’t track.”

When asked what advice they would offer other fleets, Edmondson added: “For any fleet, having a reliable video safety platform is essential. Netradyne provides the visibility and support we need to manage safety effectively.”
