Experiencing AI-Driven Safety on the Road: A Journey to TCA with Netradyne’s Driver•i®.

By Adam Kahn
President at Netradyne

Driving from San Diego to Phoenix in a Netradyne-equipped vehicle ahead of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) convention is the perfect opportunity to experience firsthand how AI-driven safety technology transforms every mile. As I navigate the open highway, the Driver•i® system is constantly at work—analyzing road conditions, providing real-time alerts, and recognizing safe driving behaviors. It’s incredible to see how seamlessly the technology enhances awareness and reduces risk, making the journey smoother and safer. With each mile, I’m reminded of the impact this innovation has on the future of fleet safety, and I can’t wait to share these insights at TCA.

Pulling into a truck stop in Yuma for my first stop on the way to Phoenix, I took a moment to stretch my legs and grab some water. As I walked through the lot, I couldn’t help but admire the dedication of the drivers around me—men and women who spend long hours on the road, ensuring goods get where they need to be safely. I had the chance to chat with a few of them, thanking them for their commitment to safety and the critical role they play in keeping our highways moving. It was a great reminder that technology like Netradyne’s Driver•i® isn’t just about data and alerts—it’s about supporting drivers, recognizing their efforts, and helping them get home safely at the end of every run.

My second stop in Gila Bend gave me a front-row seat to the professionalism and precision of seasoned drivers as they staged their vehicles and prepared for the next leg of their trips. Watching them methodically check their equipment, conduct walkarounds, and ensure everything was secure before rolling out was a testament to the discipline and safety-first mindset that keeps the industry moving. It was clear that safety isn’t just a box to check—it’s a routine, a responsibility, and a point of pride. Seeing this level of care in action reinforced just how important technology like Netradyne’s Driver•i® can be in supporting drivers, helping them stay alert, and recognizing the good decisions they make every day on the road.

Reflecting on my own driving during the trip, I had to admit—there was room for improvement. My GreenZone score came in just below average, which was a humbling reminder that even with experience, there’s always something to refine. Throughout the day, I took the opportunity to check my score on the Driver•i® Mobile App during stops, giving me real-time insights into where I could improve. The in-cab audio coaching was a helpful nudge, reminding me to stay focused on key safety behaviors. But what really stood out was the positive reinforcement—I was encouraged to see that after receiving coaching, I was also recognized for ‘creating space,’ earning a DriverStar for my proactive maneuvering to increase safety around my vehicle. It was a great reminder that safety isn’t just about correction, it’s also about recognizing and reinforcing the good habits that make a real difference on the road.
