Evans & Associates Enterprises Cuts Incidents by 50% with Netradyne

Company Overview

Founded in 1960, Evans & Associates Enterprises is a multi-generational, family-owned construction company that has built its reputation across Oklahoma on quality products and dependable service. Operating through 17 sister companies, the business spans every aspect of asphalt production and placement, concrete production and delivery, transportation services, and utility construction.

Its fleet of approximately 175 vehicles and 150 drivers, including concrete trucks, dump trucks, heavy haulers, and pickups, travels between plants and job sites.

Challenge

Before Netradyne, Evans & Associates often learned about accidents only after they happened, frequently relying on the public to report trouble on the road. Across a fleet operating throughout most of Oklahoma, those delays carried real cost. With some locations two and a half hours away, local managers typically began investigations before the safety team could arrive. By the time Brandon Ledington, Safety and Compliance Specialist, reached the scene, vehicles often moved and conditions changed, leaving investigators to rely on conflicting accounts.

The company's existing camera system, Lytx, could not close that gap. While it could detect risky behaviors such as hard braking, the kind a driver does when stopping short at an intersection, it couldn't identify critical risks like traffic light violations, the behavior that mattered most for a fleet moving concrete trucks and heavy haulers through busy intersections.

That limitation became impossible to ignore when the company president stopped at a stoplight and watched a company truck drive through a red light without braking. The camera never flagged the violation, because it could only detect hard braking, not running a red light. The president called the safety team right away, wanting to know who was behind the wheel and whether the light had truly been red.

The footage confirmed it. The light was red, and the truck had driven through it without slowing down.  

The next call from the company president set a clear mandate, one Ledington still remembers word for word:  

“Find me a company with an AI-powered dash cam that can consistently detect stoplight violations.”

That single requirement framed every technology evaluation that followed. The company needed a system that could recognize real-world driving risks the way a driver does, rather than simply wait for a hard-braking event to trigger a recording.

Solution

That search led Evans & Associates to Netradyne.  

Unlike Lytx, Netradyne’s AI could recognize the full range of real-world driving risks, such as a driver being waived through a stoplight or stop sign by an officer, temporary road signs, or multiple unsafe behaviors (E.g. using a phone while violating a stoplight).

The company began with a 10-vehicle pilot using Driver•i cameras before expanding the platform across the entire fleet. Almost immediately, the pilot surfaced behaviors the Lytx had never captured, including the traffic light violations that had prompted the search, along with distracted driving and drowsy driving.

Netradyne's in-cab coaching helped drivers recognize and correct risky habits in real time, even brief distractions such as glancing down at a mobile device. The pilot also established the coaching process the team continues to use today.

Today, the safety team focuses on three key behaviors: traffic light compliance, distracted driving, and drowsy driving. Because Netradyne analyzes risk and compliance across 100% of the drive time, every alert includes the video context needed for meaningful coaching. Ledington and his colleague reviews each event before working with the driver’s manager to discuss what happened using the recorded footage. Video evidence removes speculation and driver pushback, making coaching conversations more productive and actionable.

Successful adoption depended on how the company introduced the technology. “From the outset, we pushed Netradyne as a safety tool, and we don’t use it as a disciplinary tool for them,” said Andy Roberts, Vice President of Safety & Compliance.

That framing built trust across the fleet. Once drivers reviewed their own footage, most quickly recognize its value.

That value became especially clear during an incident on the turnpike between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Another vehicle made an unsafe lane change, failed to clear an Evans & Associates truck, and caused a collision. All four occupants of the other vehicle blamed the company’s driver, and the vehicle was moved before law enforcement could corroborate the incident details.

As the responding officer prepared to cite the Evans & Associates’ driver, Ledington emailed the video footage within minutes. After reviewing it, the trooper cleared the  driver and instead cited the other motorist for an unsafe lane change.

For Roberts, that outcome captures exactly what the platform delivers.

Next Steps

Evans & Associates is now formalizing a driver recognition program that builds on the positive safety culture created through Netradyne. Today, the team regularly calls drivers to recognize exceptional driving and shares standout driving clips across the company to celebrate safe behaviors.

The next step is developing a rewards program that fairly recognizes drivers across plants with different route lengths and operating conditions.
