Product Support Engineer/Technical Writer

Overview

We are looking for a Product Support Engineer/Technical Writer to join our fast-growing team in San Diego. The position will collaborate with the India team to drive the development of technical documentation. The position will assist with development of internal procedures and processes and work with customers to identify and resolve product issues. The ideal candidate will communication skills and ability to work with customers, experience developing training videos and writing technical documentations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of Technical Documentation in conjunction with our India team.
    • Install & Repair SOPs (Standard Operating procedures).
    • Product use SOPs.
    • Field debug SOPs including support for the Field Engineering team.
  • Assist with the development of Installation videos.
  • Work with customers to identify, resolve and document product issues.
  • Assist with development of internal procedures and processes.
  • Domestic travel as required for product support issues.
  • Unusual Hours may be required at times to work with our India team.
  • General assistance to the team as time allows.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience writing technical documents.
  • Experience developing training videos.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to meet milestone deadlines.
  • Familiar with Test Equipment such as Volt/Ohm Multimeters (Oscilloscopes a plus).
  • Ability to read design schematics a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office products such as MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Familiar with creating/editing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) & modifying pdf documents.
  • Familiarity with automotive environment a plus.
  • Willingness for domestic travel as required (approx. 10 %).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with customers.
  • Experience working with a professional video production facility a plus.
  • Experience with Video editing sw a plus.
  • Familiarity with MS Visio a plus.
